It has now been about a year since we moved to this wonderful island, and what a year! Between building our business, making new friends and dealing with some unexpected renovations, we have had a pretty busy time of it. Despite the hard work that has gone into opening our little cafe we couldn't be happier.
Getting to know everyone here has been an absolute delight. Nothing brings us greater joy than seeing our regulars coming in again and again for coffee and a scone. Now that we are expanding our business and exploring the realms of home cooked pizza, we hope to see even more of all of you, Thank you all for making our first year such a rousing success!
As much as we love our locals it has also been a fascinating opportunity to meet the many different types of travelers passing through Evie. I doubt many people are in a position to meet so many different characters, from all over the world, without leaving the comfort of their home. We've seen every type of visitor from happy families to young couples and lone voyagers looking to enjoy a bit of Orcadian history or to find out about ancient family connections.
However, I would have to say that a big part of our year has just been discovering Orkney for ourselves. Despite having visited a number of times before, experiencing the island as locals has been wonderful. We've hugely enjoyed the folk and the blues festival along with the agricultural shows and, of course, the Ba'. We've tried to do just about every walk there is, which has been very exciting for the dogs, and we've experienced the breathtaking scenery like never before.
All in all this year has been truly magical and we hope for another extraordinary year ahead! See you all soon for a cup of Coffee, a bit of cake and a chat.
